More than just Deer......

Since the C4 is primarily a whitetail deer hunting operation I talk mostly about the deer - but there is more to the C4 than just deer so I thought I would share some pictures of some of the awesome sunrises and sunsets that we get here at the C4 lodge on beautiful Toledo Bend Reservoir.

God's Glory

Beautiful Sunset

Rainbow Reflecting off the Water

Wow - what a Sunset!
A Purple Sunrise
Part of the "experience" of the C4 is this amazing lake and never-ending beauty of nature it provides. Come experience it for yourself - you won't regret it....(and we still have some AWESOMELY BIG DEER!)

The horns are growing on the C4!

Already has brow tines
We got the scout cams back out (this time of year we always put them on the supplemental feeders in order to get as many pics as possible) so we can start monitoring the antler growth of the bucks here on the C4. It is only the first part of May and we already have bucks with really good brow tines and great mass! The Whitetail deer is an amazing animal and what many people do not realize is that when a buck loses his antlers in early spring he will immediately start growing the next set. Antlers are one of the fastest growing forms of biological life known to man sometimes growing up to an inch per day.

Going to be some massive bases!
This kind of growth can only be achieved with properly managed food plots and highly nutritious supplemental feed. Here in East Texas we have an abundance of natural browse but it isn't enough - you have to learn to be a farmer and plant those plots. Prior to implementing our habitat management program that was designed by Dr. James Kroll the best scoring bucks we had were in the mid 150s. After just a short time of intense habitat management we are producing bucks that go well into the 180s and even the occasional 190 and even 200+ buck! You have to get them the right nutrition - period - and you can't do it slinging corn on the ground or by sprinkling a magical blend of seeds on a right-of-way. You have to commit to keeping at least 10% of your entire property acreage in well maintained and fertilized food plots available 24/7/365 - anything less is a waste of time.

I will post more pics each week so everyone can see the development of these bucks over the summer - should be interesting to watch. If you are interested in hunting one of these awesome bucks then give us call and come check out the C4.
